About the project

Tailors keep their clients' measurements in paper notebooks that get lost or damaged. Measurement Book moves that record onto the phone.

Measurement Book is an Android app for tailors and fashion designers. It keeps each client's contact details, photo and measurements in one place, with separate measurement sets for women and men, so the record is always at hand.

We designed and developed the app from version 1.0, then refreshed its look and feel, revamped its Google Drive backup and restore, and redesigned its landing page in 2020.

The brief

A tailor's notebook holds everything the business depends on: who each client is, how to reach them, their measurements and when their order is due. If the notebook is lost or damaged, that record goes with it. The app had to feel as simple as paper and pencil, and keep the data safe even if the phone is dropped, lost or stolen.

Our approach

We built the app around the client record. A tailor adds a client's contact details and a photo, taken on the spot or picked from the gallery, records their measurements, then sets a delivery date with a reminder days or a week before it is due.

Backup and sync run through the user's Google account, so measurements can be restored on a new phone and kept in step across devices. The app is free and carries no ads.
